What Does Freedom and Democracy Mean To Me

As of right now we all believe that democracy is the right to expression, the right to express what is worth to be expressed. In recent years this has all changed, it all about money, your living status etc. To be head these factors need to be looked at and your opinion will be head or else published. For more info. on Freedom of the internet and the government intervention of the government http://internetstudies.ukzn.ac.za/inst102news/node/310. This shows that the privacy of the internet components of are at the stage where the government tend to control them. Freedom is bound to be broken. Now really signing out your girl T.

Week 10 "Hard Week"

This week was a hard week for me but I dont know about other people but for me in some other ways was quite challenging. First we had to go bad to our news teams and again devise a a strategy on how to conduct the new task we have to do based on interviewing people on media freedom. We came to a conclusion that we will interview the cleaners, lectures, departments and students. But then there comes the hard part where we had to construct questions which was quite hard and stressful, any way as a group we did that, so now i believe the say that goes like this "if you work as a team you come up with team work", any-ways thank God that we did it. Week 8 Tutorial "More on News"

This week was head tic and very fun at the same time, even though me and my group had to do a late submit ion. Oh god I so love this course...*smiling*....By the way there was no quiz that was quite fascinating and interesting at the same time, because no readings for me that means ,more freedom, God dam I love this course. If I had to choose another course and this one, I will definatly choose this one. Before I forget this week we had to submit our news articles, and that was the part that was not fun. This week it the last week at school and I am so happy. I home-go in Zulu ....*singing*...Cant wait.

Tutorial 7 "It movie time"

This week was a fun week for me, starting from interacting socially and with my school work. So to say this week for me is filled with fabulousity  as Kimora Le Simmons would says. During the tutorial, the task we had to do we had to create a video using open-shot movie editor, which was based on freedom of expression, We had to use the pictures that every individual collected and the music that one thinks suits the topic in order to create that shot, that  had to be creative. There is not much I can say but this course has taught me a lot, by the way there was no quiz this week, which adds to my enjoyment....*wink*....what a great week it was. God bless this week.

Week 6 Tut "In the Picasa World"

This week was quite fascinating and one of the enjoyable week for me even though I had a lot work to do. Above all the task for this week we had to create a new album in picasa,  this album is "Claiming my right to freedom of expression", and had to upload pictures that I think relate to this topic. After all that has been done i feel so honoured to be part of all this.

Week three tutorial "On top of Facebook"

During this week it was quite exiting for me and by the way i am so excited to be part of this course. This week we were given a task to complete involving the investigation based on how Zuma intervene with the internet sources/components e.g. face book, twitter etc. We were separated into groups in order to do research based on what you decided to research on. Even though it is head tic but we all shall survive.

Freedom of Epression

   Freedom of Expression
My name is Thandeka Luthuli, with a capital T and maybe a capital L. I basically come from Ndwedwe in a small area called Mayekeni. Ndwedwe is a very huge farm but at the same time it very beautiful, with all the houses we have, the people we have are way ahead the place. Currently I am a student at the University of KwaZulu Natal and I am doing my first year of study. The course I'm doing is a bachelor of Social Science in Management and communication Studies, in simpler words I am majoring in Media and Management. What I am focusing on now is making sure that I reach the dream that I always wanted to come true on becoming a top business women in the S.A region. The hope that i have as a student studying at the University of KwaZulu Natal is making sure that I leave a mark and make sure that i don't be like a frog that jumps around without living a mark but be like a snail that leaves a mark where ever it goes. So to who ever comes after me can identify my past presence and follow my foot steps.

Anybody who is anybody have their own personal favorite source of news, it may the T.V, internet, radio, friends etc. because every one is free to express what they feel should be said and should be done and that where freedom of expression comes into place. To me my main sources comes from various sources: the newspapers because i love reading a lot, specifically iLanga Letheku, the second source is the T.V specifically the Oprah show, Tyra Banks show, the E.t.v news and the Kimora Le Simmons show, because I am a T.V zombie that where i get a lot of news and another reason for loving T.V news is because it makes sure that it delivers. I don't like using the internet a lot because it information is not always reliable but I'm not saying that all the news I watch are always reliable but what i am saying is that a lot of times it not reliable. Zulu is my home language and due to a lot of English publications I have to reinforce myself into understanding the language. If i get a chance to access news in Zulu I make sure that I grab with both hands, this type of opportunity comes a lot in Newspapers because you have a variety of choices. The most media-based activity I utilize mostly in, is iLanga Letheku because of the way it portrays the news. The part that I like is the gossip section, especially in the world of celebrities because maybe or maybe I will be part of them.

Freedom of the press specifically means that the press is commonly allowed to gather information and make use of that information in publishing it. Drawing to attention the 'constitutional provision' the constitute by itself has given them that freedom to express what is meant to be expressed. It is considered a foundational value for a democracy, the reason for that lies in the government. For someone who is quite popular, they have no privacy. So it is there to carry out the views of the democracy to the open and communicate with the public. From what i think, there should not be limitations because everyone has the right to express themselves even so to the press, even though it may disclose the privacy of people. The media itself can either make you or break you.
